Dallas Man Charged With Capital Murder After Double Fatal Shooting, SWAT Standoff

DALLAS — A man is facing capital murder charges after two men were found shot to death early Saturday morning in southern Dallas, according to the Dallas Police Department.

Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. on May 17, 2026, to the 6600 block of Emhouse Street in the Wolf Creek area following reports of a shooting.

Investigators said officers arrived and discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the suspect as 47-year-old Heriberto Oropeza-Hernandez.

According to authorities, Oropeza-Hernandez barricaded himself inside the location after the shooting, prompting a response from the department’s Dallas Police SWAT team.

Officials said Oropeza-Hernandez was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Dallas County Jail on a charge of Capital Murder.  ICE has also filed a charge of illegal alien. 

The investigation remains ongoing under case number 070443-2026.
