IRVING, Texas - Federal immigration agents arrested a previously deported Mexican national in South Irving earlier this month after authorities said he attempted to flee during an enforcement operation and struck a government vehicle.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, officers with ICE Dallas Fugitive Operations arrested Magdaleno Roman-Rosales on May 8 during a targeted immigration enforcement operation near his residence in South Irving.
ICE officials said Roman-Rosales had previously been charged by the Irving Police Department with kidnapping years earlier and later received a 120-day sentence for unlawful restraint before being removed to Mexico.
Authorities said Roman-Rosales later returned to the United States illegally.
During the arrest operation, investigators said Roman-Rosales attempted to flee by backing his truck into an ICE vehicle.
Federal agents said officers entered the vehicle before he could drive away. Authorities added that Roman-Rosales refused commands to exit the truck and had to be physically removed from the cab while continuing to resist arrest.
ICE officials said no serious injuries were reported during the incident.
Roman-Rosales remains in ICE custody pending prosecution.
