FORT WORTH, Texas - The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a late-night shooting that left one person critically injured Saturday near Mansfield Highway and Seminary Drive.
Police said East Division officers responded around 11:40 p.m. May 23rd to the 3000 block of Mansfield Highway, also known as US-287 Business, near the intersection with E. Seminary Dr, after receiving reports of a shooting.
Officers with the Forest Hill Police Department were already at the scene when Fort Worth officers arrived and located a victim inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by the Fort Worth Fire Department and is listed in critical condition. Authorities said the victim is not expected to survive.
Investigators believe two vehicles were involved in some type of altercation near the intersection of Mansfield Highway and Seminary Drive before both vehicles traveled westbound on Seminary Drive.
According to police, at some point during the encounter, occupants of the suspect vehicle fired toward the victim’s vehicle, striking the front right passenger.
The victim’s vehicle then pulled into a nearby business while the suspect vehicle fled the scene.
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting and work to determine what led to the altercation.
Police said the incident appears to be isolated.
