Motorcyclist Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash Near Pilot Point

DENTON COUNTY, Texas - A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning in a three-vehicle crash near Pilot Point, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. May 23 on FM 455 near Hub Clark Road in Denton County.

Preliminary findings indicate the motorcycle was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed while approaching another eastbound vehicle.

Investigators said the rider attempted to brake to avoid a collision, lost control, and laid the motorcycle down.

The motorcycle then slid into the westbound lane and struck a pickup truck before being redirected back into the eastbound lane, where it collided with the other vehicle involved in the crash.

Authorities said the pickup truck driver was not injured.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The motorcyclist, identified as 34-year-old Shane Stean Mozingo of Sanger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
