Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting at South Dallas Home

DALLAS, Texas - A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder after a shooting Tuesday night in the Wolf Creek area of Dallas left a 31-year-old man dead.

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:55 p.m. on June 2 to a shooting call in the 400 block of Highcrest Drive, near W. Camp Wisdom Rd and Interstate 35E.

Preliminary information indicates that 31-year-old Trevan Aguinaga was shot at the residence.

Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel responded to the scene and transported Aguinaga to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators determined that Aguinaga was walking into the residence when he was shot by his girlfriend's adult son, who also lived at the home.

Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Gabriel Ybarra.

Authorities said Ybarra remained at the scene following the shooting and was taken into custody without incident.

He was later charged with Murder and booked into the Dallas County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing and is documented under Dallas Police case number 079603-2026.
