After the Silicon Valley cities of Fremont and San Jose, Calif., Irving ranks third in the nation in the number of technology startups per capita, according to an analysis by SizeUp, a San Francisco business intelligence firm.
Irving City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said he wasn't surprised by the city's No. 3 ranking, with officials for the city citing the region's geographically central location to the rest of the nation and proximity to an international airport.
Irving's ranking reflects the state's unique combination of technological savvy and pioneering spirit, Gov. Rick Perry said.
The city says it plans to use the rankings in its marketing materials with the hopes of attracting new tech ventures.
