Dallas County to Open Applications for 10th Annual Expunction Expo

DALLAS COUNTY, Texas — The Dallas County Criminal District Attorney's Office and the Dallas County District Clerk's Office have announced the return of the 10th Annual Dallas County Expunction Expo, a program that helps eligible individuals permanently clear qualifying criminal records.

Since the program began in 2017, Dallas County courts have granted 3,365 expunctions, allowing eligible participants to remove barriers to employment, education, housing, and other opportunities.

Applications for the 2026 Expunction Expo will be accepted from 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, through 5 p.m. Thursday, July 9.

Because demand exceeds available space, participants will be selected through a random lottery after officials determine whether their felony or misdemeanor arrest qualifies for expunction under Texas law. Applicants will be notified by email, or by mail if no email address is provided, no later than Aug. 28 regarding their acceptance into the program.

"For ten years, the Expunction Expo has helped thousands of people remove barriers that stood between them and a brighter future," Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot said. "Our community is stronger when people who are legally entitled to clear their records can move forward."

Dallas County District Clerk Felicia Pitre said the county remains committed to helping eligible residents obtain a fresh start.

The Expunction Expo connects qualifying applicants with volunteer attorneys who review cases and assist participants with preparing and filing the legal documents necessary to permanently remove eligible criminal records from public view.

Applications may be submitted online beginning at 8 a.m. July 8 or by phone between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on July 8 and July 9.

Residents without internet access may use computers at the following locations:

  • Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church Administrative Office, 7550 S. Hampton Road in southern Dallas.
  • Friendship-West Formula Human Services, 616 W. Kiest Boulevard in southwest Dallas.
  • T.O.R.I. Community Office, a program of the T.D. Jakes Foundation, 7222 S. Westmoreland Road, Suite 160, in southwest Dallas.

Applicants should have identifying information available, including their date of birth, Social Security number, current address, and, if possible, case information such as the arrest date, offense charged, and case number.

Officials noted that convictions and cases resulting in prison sentences generally do not qualify for expunction. The primary exception is certain Unlawful Carrying a Weapon convictions that occurred before Sept. 1, 2021. Individuals whose cases all resulted in convictions or prison sentences are not eligible for assistance through the Expunction Expo.

For additional information, residents can visit the Dallas County Expunction Expo website or call 214-653-2905.
