FORT WORTH, Texas — A 21-year-old Fort Worth man has been arrested after investigators linked him to multiple robberies involving cell phone sales arranged through social media.
According to the Fort Worth Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:30 a.m. on June 19 to the 5400 block of Parker Henderson Road after a woman reported she had been robbed during a phone sale.
The victim told officers she had arranged to sell a cellphone through social media. When she showed the phone to the prospective buyer, the suspect grabbed the device and sped away in his vehicle, dragging her a short distance before fleeing.
Several hours later, the Arlington Police Department notified Fort Worth investigators about a similar robbery in Arlington involving a suspect and vehicle matching the description from the Fort Worth case.
Investigators from both departments shared information with the Fort Worth Police Department's Real Time Crime Center, where officers identified the suspect vehicle and connected it to both robberies.
Police located the silver 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer near Randol Mill Road. Officers from the Fort Worth and Arlington police departments conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, identified as 21-year-old Emanuel Perez Mena of Fort Worth.
Mena was arrested on a charge of Aggravated Robbery.
Detectives believe Mena may have been involved in more than 10 cellphone transactions since June 13 and are concerned there may be additional victims.
Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Mena is asked to contact Fort Worth Police robbery detectives at 817-392-4469.
The investigation remains ongoing.
