VALLEY VIEW, Texas — Three suspects have been arrested following an extensive investigation into a residential burglary in Valley View that spanned multiple counties and states.
According to the Valley View Police Department, officers responded on June 4 to a burglary of a habitation in the 1000 block of South Frontage Road.
Investigators determined that two men and one woman unlawfully entered the home and stole thousands of dollars worth of personal property.
Among the items taken was the homeowner's Ring camera. Before it was stolen, however, the device captured video of the suspects and the vehicle they were using. Although the license plate was not visible, the footage provided investigators with valuable evidence.
The case was assigned to Detective Andrew Poole, who worked alongside Sgt. Dylan Harris and Officer Green to conduct an investigation involving multiple counties and states. Police said the investigation included interviews, evidence collection, and extensive follow-up work that ultimately led to the identification of all three suspects.
Authorities obtained arrest warrants charging 42-year-old Jay Joseph Weems, 35-year-old Britney Michelle Donaho, and 63-year-old Ricky Dale Burks with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, a first-degree felony under Texas law.
On June 18, the Dallas Police Department arrested Weems and Donaho on the Valley View warrants and impounded the suspects' vehicle.
Detective Poole later obtained a search warrant for the vehicle, where investigators recovered numerous items stolen during the burglary. The recovered property has since been returned to the homeowner.
On June 20, Burks was arrested by the Cooke County Sheriff's Office on the outstanding Valley View warrant.
Valley View Police Chief J. Stamps praised Detective Poole, Sgt. Harris, and Officer Green for their work on the case and thanked the Dallas Police Department and Cooke County Sheriff's Office for assisting with the arrests.
"The Valley View Police Department will not tolerate criminals victimizing the citizens of our community," Stamps said. "We will aggressively pursue every lead, work with our law enforcement partners wherever the investigation takes us, and do everything within our power to identify, locate, arrest, and hold offenders accountable."
