DALLAS, Texas — A man was fatally shot early Thursday morning in Deep Ellum, and Dallas police say the case will be presented to a grand jury.
According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:15 a.m. on July 2 to a reported shooting in the 3500 block of La France Street.
The preliminary investigation determined that 56-year-old Charles Lee Baldwin was shot by a person known to him at the location.
Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel transported Baldwin to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said the case will be referred to a grand jury, which is standard procedure in certain homicide investigations involving identified suspects.
The investigation remains ongoing under case number 095734-2026.
