Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Over Barrier on Dallas North Tollway Flyover

PLANO, Texas — A 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon after losing control on a high-speed flyover ramp and falling into traffic on the Dallas North Tollway, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on June 28 on the flyover from southbound Dallas North Tollway to eastbound President George Bush Turnpike.

Texas DPS Troopers, along with Plano Fire-Rescue, Plano Police, and Dallas Fire-Rescue, responded to the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation, the rider was operating a sports motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck a concrete barrier on the flyover.

The impact threw the motorcyclist over the barrier and into the southbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway, where he was struck by a passing passenger vehicle.

The driver of the passenger car, a 31-year-old Dallas woman, was not injured.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is continuing to investigate the fatal crash. The victim's identity has not yet been released.
