IRVING, Texas - An Irving woman has been charged with first-degree felony aggravated assault after police say she shot her fiancé during a domestic incident at a Las Colinas apartment.
According to the Irving Police Department, officers responded on July 17 to a reported shooting at the Lakeside Urban Center Apartments in the 800 block of Lake Carolyn Parkway.
When officers arrived, they found 43-year-old Germaine Samuel suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. Police said Samuel sustained serious injuries to his abdomen and stomach and had lost a substantial amount of blood.
Irving Fire Department paramedics transported Samuel to a local hospital before he was transferred to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
Investigators said Samuel and his fiancée, 40-year-old Sjontelle Tierre Fisher, were the only two people inside the apartment when the shooting occurred.
According to police, officers have responded to previous domestic violence calls involving the couple. During the investigation, neither Samuel nor Fisher provided investigators with details about what had occurred.
Detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment and recovered a black handgun hidden beneath a mattress. Investigators also found a spent shell casing behind the master bedroom door.
Police said blood evidence inside the apartment indicated the shooting occurred in the master bedroom.
Based on the evidence collected, the fact that only the couple was present in the residence and the victim's serious bodily injuries, officers arrested Fisher.
She has been charged with Aggravated Assault of a Date/Family Member with a Deadly Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury, a first-degree felony.
The case has been forwarded to the Dallas County Criminal District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
The charge against Sjontelle Tierre Fisher is an allegation. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
