Irving Woman Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge After Assault on Ex-Boyfriend

Ana Marisol Guerra Ramirez

IRVING, Texas. - An Irving woman was arrested on a felony domestic violence charge after police say she assaulted her former boyfriend and impeded his breathing during an altercation at an apartment complex on the Fourth of July.

According to the Irving Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:49 p.m. on July 4 to the Landings at Northgate Apartments in the 4200 block of West Northgate Drive after a 911 caller remained on the line without responding to dispatchers. During the call, dispatchers reportedly heard a woman crying and screaming, "You tried to rape my daughter."

When officers arrived, witnesses directed them to an apartment where they contacted the victim. Police said the man had visible scratch marks on his neck and chest.

The victim told officers his former girlfriend, later identified as Ana Marisol Guerra Ramirez, came to his apartment upset that their relationship had ended. He told investigators she slapped him several times before placing both hands around his neck and applying pressure, causing pain and leaving visible injuries.

The victim also told officers that Guerra Ramirez appeared to be intoxicated. The couple had been together for six years and share a 5-year-old daughter.

Shortly after midnight on July 5, officers responded to another disturbance at the same apartment complex after receiving reports of a woman crying while walking around with a naked child and asking for help.

Officers located Guerra Ramirez and the child. Police said she identified herself using an El Salvadoran passport and appeared to be intoxicated.

During the investigation, officers determined Guerra Ramirez matched the description previously provided by the victim, including a distinctive star tattoo on her hand. Police also confirmed her identity after calling the phone number provided by the victim, causing the phone in her possession to ring. A friend accompanying Guerra Ramirez also confirmed she was known by the name "Karolyn," the name initially given by the victim.

According to police, Guerra Ramirez eventually admitted she had been at the victim's apartment and assaulted him.

She was arrested and charged with assault involving family violence by impeding breathing.  Her bond was set at $10,000, but ICE has charged her as an Illegal Alien so she is being held in-custody.

The couple's 5-year-old daughter was released into the custody of her father following the arrest.
