Four Arrested After Violent Bar Assault at Irving Restaurant

IRVING, Texas. Four men have been charged with aggravated assault after investigators say they brutally attacked another man during a fight inside an Irving restaurant, leaving the victim with serious head injuries.

According to the Irving Police Department, officers responded just after midnight on Thursday, July 2, to Peak Restaurant & Bar in the 3400 block of West Airport Freeway (SH-183) following reports of a large fight involving 15 to 20 people. The caller reported that multiple individuals were fighting and throwing beer bottles inside the business.

When officers arrived, they reviewed security camera footage that showed four men assaulting another man. Investigators obtained descriptions of the suspects and later located all four men, along with the victim, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Irving on N. MacArthur Blvd. Police said surveillance footage confirmed each suspect's involvement.

Investigators said 31-year-old Suraj Basnet was captured on video repeatedly striking the victim in the head with his fists and feet while the other suspects allegedly used their fists, feet, chairs and glass bottles to attack the victim.

The victim suffered a head laceration that required stitches, busted lips, cuts to the neck and a possible concussion. Police said medical results regarding the concussion were still pending.

Suraj Basnet, 29-year-old Dhiraj Basnet, 22-year-old Amit Khatri-Nepal and 22-year-old Shoib Khadka were each charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony.

In addition to the assault charge, Amit Khatri-Nepal was also charged with fraud, possession or use of a stolen credit card, a third-degree felony.

The investigation remains ongoing.
