LEWISVILLE, Texas - Lewisville police are investigating after a resident discovered what authorities believe was a deceased human fetus along the shoreline of a lake Friday morning.
The Lewisville Police Department responded at approximately 8 a.m. on July 10 to the 200 block of East Lake Park Road after receiving a 911 call from a resident who reported finding what appeared to be a discarded fetus.
When officers arrived, they located a deceased fetus along the shoreline. Police secured the area and conducted a search for additional evidence.
Detectives worked alongside investigators from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office to process the scene before it was cleared.
According to preliminary findings, investigators believe the fetus was between five and six months' gestation and had been intentionally discarded at the location.
Authorities said the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the identity and other characteristics as part of its examination.
Police also stated that the investigation is not connected to a separate incident on Thursday at Lake Park involving a report of a suspicious package.
