Dallas Teen Dies After Being Run Over Following Fight in Trinity Groves; Murder Charge Pending

DALLAS, Texas - An 18-year-old suspect is expected to face a murder charge after police say he intentionally ran over a 17-year-old following a physical altercation in the Trinity Groves area west of downtown Dallas.

Dallas police responded to a major assault call at approximately 3:36 a.m. on July 26 in the 300 block of Singleton Boulevard.

According to the preliminary investigation, 17-year-old Garyk Rodriguez Escobar was involved in a physical altercation with multiple individuals before a suspect, identified as 18-year-old Julian Luna, allegedly struck him with a vehicle.

Rodriguez Escobar was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Luna was arrested on July 29 and initially charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Causing Brain Injury/Paralysis. Dallas police said those charges are in the process of being upgraded to Murder.  His bond has been set at $500,000. 

Detectives said the investigation remains active as they continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
