70-Year-Old Driver Killed After Vehicle Overturns in Richardson Crash

RICHARDSON, Texas - A 70-year-old man was killed Thursday night after his vehicle overturned during a two-vehicle collision in Richardson, police said.

Officers with the Richardson Police Department responded at approximately 8:50 p.m. on July 30 to the 500 block of East Buckingham Road following reports of a crash involving two vehicles.

When officers arrived, they found one of the drivers, later identified as 70-year-old Hagos Wldemical, unconscious on the ground after being ejected from his vehicle during the collision.

Richardson Fire Department paramedics transported Wldemical to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

The Richardson Police Department's Special Crash Investigation Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

According to preliminary findings, Wldemical was traveling westbound on East Buckingham Road when a vehicle traveling eastbound attempted to make a left turn into an apartment complex.

Police said the turning vehicle struck the driver's side of Wldemical's vehicle, causing it to overturn. Investigators have not said whether Wldemical was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Detectives continue to process evidence and interview witnesses.

No charges have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
