ARLINGTON, Texas. Arlington police are investigating the unexplained death of a 42-year-old man after his vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch Sunday afternoon.
According to the Arlington Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2 p.m. on Aug. 9 to the 2000 block of East Road to Six Flags Street after receiving reports that a 2025 Toyota Corolla had gone off the roadway.
When officers arrived, they found the driver, later identified as Leighton Francis Howard, 42, unresponsive inside the vehicle.
Howard was the only occupant of the car. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators Searching for Cause
Police said investigators found no evidence that the Corolla had been involved in a collision.
At this time, authorities have not determined why the vehicle left the roadway. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that Howard suffered a medical emergency before the crash.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will determine Howard's official cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
