According to Irving Police, a vehicle was traveling westbound in the highway's eastbound lanes when it collided head-on with a motorcycle.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office is expected to identify the victim after family members have been notified.

Police determined that the driver of the wrong-way vehicle, identified as 30-year-old Phillip Martin, was intoxicated.

A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 37-year-old Bessy Munoz, was also taken into custody. Police charged Munoz with public intoxication.

Authorities have not released Martin's alleged blood alcohol concentration or disclosed where investigators believe he entered SH 114 traveling in the wrong direction.
