Suspect Arrested in Attempted Kidnapping of Woman at Irving's Shady Grove Trail Park

IRVING, Texas - A man sought in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a woman at Shady Grove Trail Park has been arrested after tips from the public helped Irving Police identify him.

Isaac Guevara, 29, was arrested Friday, Sept. 18, four days after the incident, and booked into the Irving Jail at 1:14 p.m. He is charged with attempted aggravated kidnapping, a second-degree felony.

The case began Sept. 14 at Shady Grove Trail Park in the 700 block of W. Vilbig Street. After receiving a 911 call from the woman, officers responded and searched for the man, but he got away.

Irving Police subsequently asked the public for help identifying the suspect, initially releasing video showing him fleeing the park. Investigators released clearer images the following day.

Police said numerous tips came in following the public appeal, ultimately helping investigators identify Guevara.

“Thank you again to the public for its assistance,” Irving Police said in announcing the arrest.

Guevara was also wanted on a Dallas County Sheriff's Office warrant related to an earlier DWI case.

Court records show Guevara agreed to plead guilty to DWI in April 2023 and received 15 months of community supervision. By August of that year, court proceedings indicated he had failed to comply with a requirement involving a vehicle ignition interlock device, prompting prosecutors to seek further court action.

A warrant was subsequently issued in that case and remained outstanding for three years, until Guevara was arrested Friday.
