Irving police say a man is being charged with criminally negligent homicide after a woman was fatally shot through the wall at hotel room early Tuesday morning.
According to officials, 48-year-old Traci Reedy, along with her husband and teenage son, was inside a room at the Microtel Inn and Suites on the 3200 block of Irving Boulevard when a bullet came through the wall and struck her in the chest at about 1:15 a.m.
Police officers were the first to arrive at the hotel and gave Reedy CPR until paramedics arrived. The woman was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital where she died shortly after arrival.
Reedy's husband and son were not injured.
Irving police determined the bullet that fatally struck Reedy was fired from an adjacent room. They began questioning a man and a woman to try to determine what led to the gun being fired and said the man and woman were cooperating in the investigation.
After talking with the pair at the Irving Police Department, officials said they had charged the man, 36-year-old Michael Shane Gray, with criminally negligent homicide. Gray, if convicted, faces up to 2 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
At this time police have not said if the woman is expected to face any charges.
