At approximately 12:54 a.m., the Irving Police Department responded to a shooting at the Microtel Inn located in the 3200 block of W. Irving Blvd. When officers arrived, they located 48-year-old Traci Lynn Reedy of Irving, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported to Parkland Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Investigators have been able to determine that 36-year-old Michael Shane Gray of Dallas was handling a firearm in the room located next to Reedy. While he was handling the gun, it discharged and the bullet traveled through the wall that separated their rooms and struck Reedy in the chest as she was sitting in bed watching television. Gray has been charged with criminally negligent homicide and is currently in custody in the Irving Jail.
Reedy’s husband and teenage son were in the room at the time of the incident but were not injured. There was a female inside Gray’s room during the incident. Investigators have spoken with her and she has been released. There is no indication that a disturbance was taking place between Gray and the female in his room when the gun discharged. The investigation is still ongoing; therefore, some details are not releasable.
