Irving PD Investigate Double Shooting Homicide

On Saturday, August 29, at approximately 10:37 a.m., the Irving Police Department responded to a shooting call at a home in the 2000 block of Meadow Lark Lane.  Officers arrived to find Demorius Ducking, 16 years old, and Maurice Crawford, 45 years old, in the front yard each suffering from a single gunshot wound.  Both victims were transported to Parkland Hospital; however, Crawford was pronounced deceased.  Ducking is undergoing treatment for his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects, a 16 year old male and 17 year old male, went to the home and confronted Crawford in the driveway.  As a physical altercation took place, Ducking heard the commotion and went outside.  One of the suspects shot Crawford with a handgun then shot Ducking.  Witnesses observed both suspects run from the scene and Ducking was able to provide officers with the names of the two suspects.  Officers went to a home in the 2000 block of Spanish Trail and successfully called out the 16 year old suspect where he was taken into custody.  The Irving Police tactical team responded to the home and successfully called out the 17 year old suspect who was also taken into custody.

The adult suspect is currently in the Irving City Jail on a charge of Murder.  His identity is being withheld until detectives have shown photographic line-ups to witnesses in the case.  The juvenile suspect was taken to the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of Murder.  The motice for the shootings has yet to be determined but the investigation is ongoing.
