The Irving Police Department was contacted at approximately 7:28 a.m. in reference to a 20 year old female not coming home last night. The victim was last seen sitting by the canal behind her apartments located in the 150 block of Cowboys Parkway. Irving officers began a search of the surrounding area. The Irving Fire Department was contacted to search the canal area behind the apartment complex. At approximately 9:40 a.m., this morning, the Fire Department located the victim in the canal.
The identity of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. There appears to be no signs of foul play at this time. The investigation is still ongoing.
UPDATE:
The victim of the drowning has been identified as Cierra Samone Thompson, 20 years old. Detectives are still investigating this incident at this time.
