Irving City Manager Provides Update on Seismic Study Advisory Committee

The City of Irving worked diligently with state legislators during the 2015 legislative session to help provide funding for research and equipment to study seismic activity in Texas.

Earlier this year, Irving City Manager Chris Hillman was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott to a nine-member committee charged with advising the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG) at UT Austin on the seismic activity study. The Technical Advisory Committee and the funding was established by House Bill 2, the supplemental state budget bill, at the end of the 84th session in May of 2015. The committee met for the first time in April.

For an update on the committee’s recent meeting view Hillman's TexNet Technical Advisory Committee Update presentation from the April 27, 2016 Work Session.
