Irving Officers were dispatched to a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction west bound in the east bound lanes of State Highway 114 at State Highway 161. Officers travelling in the west bound lanes of State Highway 114 observed the vehicle at approximately 4:34 a.m. at Freeport Parkway, in Irving.
Several attempts were made to gain the driver’s attention by use of emergency lights, siren, and spotlight as the vehicle went into Grapevine, Texas. Irving Police dispatchers gave updates to responding Grapevine units as to the wrong way driver’s location until the vehicle struck another oncoming car around State Highway 26 in Grapevine.
Irving officers assisted Grapevine officers at the scene to prevent further accidents or injuries until the scene was secured. The accident investigation is being conducted by the Grapevine Police Department.
