The Irving Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on or about July 31, 2016 in the 2400 block of N. State Loop 12.
On August 1, 2016 at approximately 2:00 p.m. officers responded to the area on reports of a deceased person lying near the roadway. Officers located the body of an adult male that appeared to have been struck by a motor vehicle. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending identification and next-of-kin notification by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The initial investigation suggests the crash occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday July 31, 2016 in the area of Southbound State Loop 12 and State Highway 114. At this time there is no suspect vehicle information. Anyone who may have witnessed some aspect of this crime or has relevant information is asked to contact the Irving Police Department at (972) 273-1010 and reference case number 16-17159.
Update: The victim has been identified as Carlos Ruiz, 23 years-of-age, of Dallas. The Irving Police Department renews its appeal to anyone who may have information about this crime to contact them as described above.
