Blanca Benavides, 64, of Irving died Saturday night when a sport utility vehicle passed a red light and hit an 18-wheeler.

According to police reports, Benavides was a backseat passenger in the Toyota SUV that hit the 18-wheeler.  She was pronounced dead at Baylor Medical Center shortly after the Saturday night accident.

The accident happened about 8 p.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of West Irving Boulevard. The 1996 Toyota driven by a 38-year-old Irving woman was westbound on the road when it passed through the red light at Bradford Street.

The 18-wheeler was crossing Irving Boulevard from Bradford Street.

The driver of the Toyota, an 8-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy were taken to Dallas hospitals. Their conditions were not available Monday. Police did not release their names. The driver was wearing a seat belt, the 8-year-old was probably wearing one and police could not determine if the 3-year-old was wearing one, police said.

The truck driver was not injured.
