The Irving Genealogical Society, established in 1987, is no exception. Researchers rely on census records, books, maps, microfilm, CDs and newsletters to locate tidbits of information from the past to piece together their family history.
Recently, the Irving Genealogical Society donated approximately $800 in such research materials to the Genealogy and Local History section of the Irving Public Library. With temperatures in the triple digits, it’s a great time to start an ‘indoor’ hobby like tracing your family history. Visit the Irving Public Library to find out if your ancestors were sailors, farmers, cattle rustlers, or gold miners. The staff of the Genealogy and Local History section is ready to help you get started. Visit the Irving Genealogical Society at their monthly meetings at 7:00 p.m. the third Monday of each month in the main auditorium of the Irving Public Library.
