Weather Service Updates Forecast for Irving Area

The National Weather Service's Fort Worth office has updated its weather forecast through Feb. 15.  Irving Residents should expect more wintry weather, with potential impacts to travel and other daily activities.

  • Thursday, Feb. 11: Precipitation expected to slow and end in the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing.
  • Friday, Feb. 12: Additional freezing drizzle expected, and minor accumulations possible.
  • Saturday, Feb. 13: Light precipitation may occur early. Afternoon temperatures expected to rise above freezing, allowing accumulations to melt.
  • Sunday, Feb. 14 to Monday, Feb. 15: Extreme cold will settle into the area. Snow accumulations of 2-6 inches are expected Sunday night into Monday morning, making the Monday commute very hazardous. Impacts to roads will last for several days until temperatures rise above freezing. Plumbing, both outdoor and indoor, are at high risk for damage. In addition, the extreme cold may cause high energy demands that potentially can cause outages.

Don't risk it.  If you can stay home, do so.  If you need to be on the roads, be mindful of thin layers of ice that are not seen.  Drive carefully!
