The Irving Parks and Recreation Department has reopened Georgia Farrow Recreation Center and invites the community to come experience the expanded services and offerings.
The recreation center's expansion from 16,000 square feet to approximately 27,000 square feet includes:
- A second gymnasium with:
- an indoor turf field
- an additional basketball court with goals that can be lowered to 8 feet for elementary school students
- An expanded fitness room with additional equipment
- Locker rooms and showers
- An expanded game area
- A remodeled lobby area
- Additional parking
The project is a collaborative effort between the city’s Parks and Recreation and Planning and Community Development departments, as well as the Capital Improvement Program. The project was made possible through the Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 108 Loan Guarantee Program.
