Irving Facing Delays in Brush and Bulky Waste Collection

Irving Solid Waste Services is experiencing a very high level of demand for curbside brush and bulky collection due to the unprecedented winter weather event this past February. The prolonged period of freezing weather impacted the health of trees, brush and other landscape that, over the last few months, have been removed and placed for collection. Additionally, numerous property owners experienced damage to their property that required unplanned improvements, which resulted in additional bulky items placed at curbs throughout the city. On top of the increased demand for brush and bulky collection, seasonal timing now comes into play with the spring and summer periods being the busiest/heaviest for the solid waste collection division.

The department is also working with less collection equipment, while several boom trucks are out for service and repairs are made. The hard-working men and women are also feeling the impact of the additional collection needs as the team works to keep up with the demand.

As a result, there will be delays in brush and bulky pick up through May. Thank you for your patience during this high-collection period.

Alternative Drop Off Opportunity
Residents also can drop off brush and bulky waste materials, as well as household waste, at the Hunter Ferrell Landfill, 110 E. Hunter Ferrell Road. Disposal drop off times are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drop off availability is for residents only and individuals are required to show proof of residency at time of drop off.
