The Irving Animal Shelter has launched Seniors for Seniors—a unique pet adoption program that pairs senior pets with Irving seniors free of charge. Interested residents, age 65 and up, can learn more about the program at a special informational session at HeritageSeniorCenter, 00 S. Jefferson St
“Thanks to the Seniors for Seniors pet adoption program, both the adoptee and the adopter have hope for a better quality of life,” said Fred Sanderson, animal services manager. “Senior pets, because of their milder temperament and fully developed personalities, make ideal companions for senior citizens.”
Through the Seniors for Seniors program, pet adoption is a simple and worry-free process for Irving seniors. All adopted animals are provided with a collar, start-up food and supplies. In addition, pets will be current on vaccines, spayed or neutered, registered and microchipped before being released.
To learn more about this free program or to schedule a visit, call (972) 721-2257. Potential pet owners who want to give a loving pet a good home also may visit the Irving Animal Shelter, 100 N. Briery Road, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
Date and Time : Sept. 9 at 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Venue : HeritageSeniorCenter, 200 S. Jefferson St
