Irving Police were out in full force for the Labor Day Weekend enforcement period. Officer David Tull reports that there were a total of fourteen arrests for DWI. Of those, ten gave blood samples voluntarily, two were mandatory by law, and two had blood drawn pursuant to search warrants.
In addition to the arrests officers issued a total of one-hundred and seven citations for other violations.
Stephan Granberry, Lieutenant, (Irving Police Traffic Section) stated; “These results, combined with the fact that we had no fatality or major accidents involving injury or alcohol, bolsters our commitment to a continued utilization of the “No Refusal” approach to DWI enforcement”.
Additionally, Lt. Granberry clearly stated his appreciation to the media for their assistance through the coverage of the “Choose Your Ride” campaign kick-off hosted by the Irving Police Department.
A unique way of delivering the message that those who choose to drink and drive rather than calling a cab, or make other arrangements, will be given a ride to jail by the police.
