The Irving City Council has announced that the Texas Stadium implosion is set to take place early Sunday morning on April 11.
Concrete is being removed from the lower bowl, which is below the playing surface and 95 percent of the material removed will be recycled and used for the reconstruction of the State Highway 183 and 114 interchange.
Upon the completion of the excavation, the area will be filled with dirt used from the DART Orange Line station construction. Asbestos removal will be completed inside and outside the structure, followed by the removal of all materials until only the structural concrete and steel remains.
