In February of 2002, Irving Police responded, at the request of a neighbor, to an address in the 3500 block of Bryn Mawr to check the well-being of 79-year-old Kathleen White. Officers discovered Kathleen White’s body in the trunk of her car (which was parked in the garage). Her dog had also been killed and left inside the residence.
That date marked the beginning of an intensive and on-going investigation. Numerous items gathered at the crime scene were inspected and subjected to various types of testing, including the DNA of an unknown person. That evidence was submitted to the National DNA Database for the possibility of a match.
Investigators continued to review the case and follow any and all possible leads. In August 2009 investigators were notified that a positive DNA profile match had been found and it was being verified at that time. In mid November 2009 investigators received information that the positive match had been verified.
Armed with that information, and a further review of case facts, investigators were able to obtain a capital murder warrant for the suspect: 49-year-old Michael Nadeau. Nadeau is considered a transient with no known address or location. On January 5, 2010, Irving investigators contacted the U.S. Marshals Service and requested their assistance in locating Nadeau. Seven days later an Irving investigator, manually searching state database records, was able to pinpoint the suspect’s current location/address in El Paso, Texas. The U.S. Marshals Service was contacted and given the information and asked to verify it which they did that day without alerting the suspect. Irving Detectives flew to El Paso within hours and met with the U.S. Marshals and El Paso Police at which time Nadeau was contacted, arrested, and transported to the El Paso Police Department. Nadeau is currently being held in the El Paso County Jail pending his transfer back to Dallas County.
