Man was Struck and Killed while Crossing Highway 360 on Foot

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred late Sunday evening along the southbound lanes of Highway 360 near Arkansas Lane.

At approximately 11:17pm, September 11th, Arlington police and paramedics were dispatched to the location after a person was struck by a vehicle. Emergency responders arrived to find an adult man laying in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of an SUV told officers she was attempting to merge onto Highway 360 from the service road when suddenly a man ran in front of her vehicle. Immediately following the collision, she pulled to the right shoulder and initiated her emergency hazard lights. She is not facing any charges.

“The department would like to remind the public that pedestrians should never attempt to cross a highway – and that doing so is extremely dangerous for both the pedestrian and highway traffic. Pedestrians should instead use designated sidewalks along overpasses and underpasses if they need to get across a highway,” Arlington PD said in a statement.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
