2-year-old Child Killed in Bedford Fatal Accident

On September 24, at around 2:30 pm, Bedford Fire/EMS and Police along with Euless Fire/EMS and Police responded to the northbound lanes of Highway 121 near Cheek-Sparger Road for a major accident.

Emergency responders arrived to find a Dodge pickup truck had rear-ended a silver sedan at high speeds.

A 2-year-old girl inside the passenger vehicle was transported by paramedics to Baylor Grapevine hospital, but pronounced deceased a short time later.

The driver of the Dodge truck was arrested at the scene with charges pending.

All northbound lanes of 121 were closed for hours while Bedford police investigated the crash.

UPDATE: On Sept 26, Joshua Paul Hagger, 36, of Mansfield was formally arraigned and charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatality accident that happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday on northbound Highway 121, near Cheek Sparger Road. Officers determined Hagger’s pickup truck struck a sedan while traveling at a high rate of speed, killing a two-year-old girl, and causing injuries to the sedan’s other passengers.

Following the accident, Bedford Police detained and subsequently arrested Hagger at the scene. He is currently being held at the Euless Jail and additional charges may be added at a later date. Hagger’s bond will be set by Tarrant County magistrates once he is transferred to the Tarrant County Jail. The crash remains under investigation.
