On February 21st, 2010, the Irving Police Athletic League (IPAL) Wrestling Team competed at the state wrestling tournament in Austin, TX with eight rookie wrestlers from ages 8-15. There were 72 teams (over 600 wrestlers) competing in this tournament and the young wrestlers from Irving made their presence known!
Overall all the IPAL came home with four 1st Place State Champions, two 2nd place finishers, one 3rd place finisher and in addition earned the 2nd Place Overall Team trophy. Out of 72 teams in this tournament, the IPAL team placed second with 85 points (that trophy will be placed at the IPAL facility). Notable is the fact that this is the very first season that the IPAL participated in the wrestling program and this was the first tournament for these eight young athletes. The first place team won with a total of 88 points (15 wrestlers).

ADEN PACHECO (15) - 1st Place in 125 lb. DIV 5 weight class

JESUS ALVAREZ (15) –3rd Place in 157 lb. DIV 5 weight class
LUIS ALVEREZ (10) - Competed in 92 lb. DIV 2 weight class - missed 3rd/4th place by only one match
