The annual Spring Break Enforcement period begins tomorrow (3/12/10 – 3/21/10) and the Irving Police are reminding drivers of the need to exercise caution and maintain an awareness of other drivers on the roadways. Irving Police will be increasing their patrols, specifically focusing on D.W.I. enforcement as well as drivers using excessive speed, displaying aggressive driving techniques and as always looking for those drivers (and passengers) that fail to properly use their seatbelts/safety seats. Police also advise that special attention will be given to the roadways on St. Patrick’s Day, which falls within the Spring Break time period.
Stephan Granberry, Lt. with the Irving Police Department Traffic Section stated; "Public awareness and compliance from previous high-visibility/specific enforcement efforts has continued to yield success in our efforts to reduce the occurrence and severity of vehicle accidents, injuries and the tragic results from them."
Please join us by making every effort possible to ensure that our streets and highways are safe for all. If you see a driver or vehicle that needs our attention, and you (or a passenger) can do it safely, call 9-1-1 with the information; your eyes, ears and cell phones can make a life-saving difference!
