The Texas Department of Public Safety says the driver who caused a severe three-vehicle crash while racing has been charged with a total of six felonies related to the incident.

At 9:35 pm, multiple emergency responders from the Lewisville Fire Department and Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a crash in the southbound lanes of Sam Rayburn Tollway just before the Business 121 exit. Dispatched information indicated one person was laying in the roadway.

Two vehicles, a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette and a 2020 Ford Mustang, were racing in the southbound lanes of the Sam Rayburn Tollway when the driver of the Ford Mustang rear-ended a Hyundai Elantra in the right lane of traffic. This caused the Mustang to hit the Corvette which careened out of control, struck the median barrier, and rolled over.

A passenger inside the Corvette was transported by Lewisville paramedics to a local hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Corvette was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Authorities say the driver of the Mustang, 27-year-old Jordan Brown, ran away from the crash scene, but was apprehended a short time later. During the investigation, it was determined he was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He has been charged with: (2) Intoxication Assault, (2) Accident Involving Serious Bodily Injury, and (2) Racing on Highway Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

The driver of the Hyundai Elantra who was hit by the Mustang was not seriously hurt.
