NTTA Accepts Full Control of the SH 161 Project

The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) has formally accepted full control of the SH 161 project from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).  The vote occurred on February 26, after the project was awarded $20 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Texas Transportation Commission approved a measure to make available $4 billion in loans in case of emergency.  In the end, the handover of the project to NTTA will save TxDOT millions of dollars.  The entire project is scheduled to be complete in late 2012.
