On January 6 at approximately 3:30 am, Watauga Police and other areas of Law Enforcement responded to a suicidal person in the 7700 block of Virgie Court.
Officers had knowledge that the person was armed and dangerous. Upon arrival, Officers began negotiating with the subject. As Officers negotiated with him, the male discharged a weapon several times inside the house.
After hours of negotiating, the male exited the residence's front door with a gun. He raised the weapon towards the Officers, placing them in fear of imminent bodily injury or death.
Two Officers discharged their weapons, striking the male. Officers immediately rendered medical aid and the subject was transported by ambulance to the hospital. He later succumed bo his injuries and died.
No Officers were injured during the incident and there was no threat to the public.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the Officer involved shooting.
