Violent Home Invasion Suspects Caught After Police Chase through Fort Worth

On January 6, 2023, at about 7:39 pm, Fort Worth Police officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Hampshire Blvd regarding a home invasion/robbery. Call details stated an elderly female had been violently assaulted and her vehicle taken during the robbery. Fort Worth Fire Department and MedStar personnel also responded.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed the details of the assault and provided a description of the stolen vehicle and a license plate number which was broadcast to all patrol channels.

At about 8:00 pm, a Directed Patrol Unit officer observed the stolen vehicle being driven on a public roadway Westbound on West 7th Street near the intersection of Summit Avenue. The officer was operating a marked patrol unit with emergency lighting and siren arrived on scene and observed the suspect in the driver's seat of the suspect vehicle, a gold colored Kia Sorento. The officer awaited arrival of additional units and, at about 8:03pm, attempted to stop the vehicle on Camp Bowie Boulevard. The officer activated the unit’s red and blue emergency lights in attempt to stop the suspect vehicle and the suspect quickly accelerated while traveling Westbound on Camp Bowie in an attempt to elude the officer. The officer then activated the emergency siren and pursued the vehicle.

The pursuit traveled through and remained within West Division. The stolen vehicle struck two separate uninvolved vehicles on Camp Bowie during the pursuit. Both vehicles sustained damage but were drivable and the occupants were uninjured. The driver of the stolen vehicle did not remain at the accident scene and continued to flee from officers.

At about 8:07 pm, the stolen vehicle was making a turn onto Pentecost Street and spun out, coming to a stop. Officers were able to block the stolen vehicle from further movement and initiated felony stop procedures. Two adult male suspects, the driver and a passenger, were taken into custody with out incident. MedStar was requested to examine both suspects due to their involvement in the collision on Camp Bowie. Both were examined and released by MedStar personnel.

The driver was arrested without incident for Evading Arrest or Detention in a Motor Vehicle and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. The passenger was detained while an active investigation is being conducted by the Robbery Unit into the theft of the Kia Sorento. Additional charges are pending for both suspects.

The pursuit lasted about seven minutes and involved officers from the Department's Patrol Division, Directed Response Units and Air Support Unit. The Traffic Investigation Unit will be responsible for the follow-up investigation for Leaving the Scene of an Accident and the Robbery Unit will be responsible for the Robbery on Hampshire Boulevard.
