The Dallas Police Department says a child has died after a shooting at an east Oak Cliff apartment complex.
At 2:16pm, Dallas police officers responded to the Signature at Southern Oaks apartment complex, 3303 Southern Oaks Blvd, for reports of a shooting.
Investigators determined a fight between two juvenile females occurred in the parking lot of the complex. During the fight, one of the female juveniles retrieved a handgun and shot in the direction of the female she was fighting; however, the gunshot struck a male juvenile bystander.
The child was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The juvenile suspect ran away from the scene, but was later taken into custody at a nearby complex. Charges have not been released.
The incident is still under investigation.
