A Fort Worth police officer is recovering in a local ICU after being injured while assisting a stranded driver.
At 11:19 pm Friday evening, Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to a stalled food truck on a ramp at the I35W and North Loop 820 interchange.
One of the officers had established a line of flares to assist with traffic control when a driver disregarded the flare line and drove towards the officer. The officer jumped out of the way and fell a long distance off the ramp.
The officer sustained multiple traumatic injuries and has already had one surgery, according to reports.
It is unknown if the driver was arrested.
