Irving Teen Court’s adult and teen volunteers were honored with a recognition dinner at Pappasito’s Cantina.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Jean Griffin Award of Merit to Michael Voss. The award is given annually to a graduating senior volunteer who has participated in the Teen Court program for at least one year. Voss, a senior at MacArthur High School, has participated in Teen Court since 2006. He plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in education.
Appreciation certificates were presented to all participating teens; adult volunteers were given a certificate for their dedication to the program and 27 graduating seniors also were recognized.
In addition, six students were honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award at the Bronze Level for giving 100 hours of service to the Teen Court program over the past year. They received a certificate and letter signed by President Barack Obama and a bronze lapel pin. Those students are Brian Dyer, Jessica Estrada, Rachael Frost, Muhammad Minhal, Jessica Munoz and Michael Voss.
