On Thursday at about 6:56 pm, Fort Worth FD, PD, and MedStar EMS units were dispatched to the 100 block of the North Texas Express Westbound toll lanes of Northeast Loop 820 in reference to a major accident involving two vehicles. The crash was located between Riverside and I35W.
Upon arrival, officers observed that the victim, an adult male, had been traveling in a passenger vehicle westbound in the toll lanes of Northeast Loop 820. A pickup truck was also traveling westbound in the toll lanes of Northeast Loop 820 when the driver made an abrupt movement to exit onto the North Texas Express lane exit ramp. The driver of the pickup struck the crash attenuator that divides the lanes of travel and the exit lanes, went airborne and landed on top of the passenger vehicle. Both vehicles then came to rest.
The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel and the driver of the pickup was uninjured.
