Four Shot at Dallas Vigil Being Held for Victim of Shooting at Same Location

On March 17, 2023, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Dallas Police responded to two related shooting calls in the 7400 block of S. Westmoreland Road.

The preliminary investigation determined when officers arrived they found a 23-year-old man shot inside the business. He was taken by Dallas Fire Rescue to a local hospital in critical condition. Another man, 19, had already been taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound, where he died on March 18, 2023 from his injuries. Detectives determined the 19-year-old was outside of the business when the other man approached him, then shot and killed him. Further investigation determined the suspect attempted to leave the location, but then ran inside the building. He then got into an argument with a 20-year-old man who shot him. The suspect remains hospitalized and is facing a Murder charge for killing the victim.

On March 18, 2023, at approximately 9:20pm, Dallas Police were called to the same location as the shooting a day prior. The preliminary investigation determined a crowd was gathered at the location for a vigil for the 19-year-old victim when a passenger in a vehicle westbound on Gannon Road fired at the crowd. The investigation determined people in the crowd also fired back at the vehicle.

Four people were shot and taken to local hospitals in stable condition.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white Chrysler.

The investigation into these incidents is still ongoing.
