Weather and Unbuckled Seat Belts Suspected in Grand Prairie Fatal Crash

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Friday, March 24th in the 1800 block of South Belt Line Road.

At approximately 6:40 a.m., a Chevy passenger car traveling southbound veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Ford pickup truck. The Chevy passenger car continued south and crashed head-on into a Dodge pickup. The drivers of the Ford and Dodge sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevy passenger car sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A passenger of the Chevy passenger car was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.

Investigators believe weather may have been a contributing factor in the collision. The driver and passenger of the Chevy passenger car were not wearing seatbelts which may have contributed to the injuries sustained.

This crash remains under investigation.
